MODULE 01 · LESSON 1.3

Repair as non-formal learning

Repairing an object teaches three things at once. Technology: how electricity flows, how to measure, how to find a fault step by step. Environment: every repair avoids waste and a new product. Community: objects carry stories, and around a repair table generations meet and share skills. This is non-formal learning — planned and intentional, but voluntary, hands-on and learner-centred — and it reaches young people who don't feel at home at school. Make it visible with a short reflection, recognise it with Youthpass, and find more methods in the SALTO-YOUTH resource centres.
