Discovering a sewing machine, part 1: getting started

Meet the machine: spool pin, thread guides, tension discs, needle, presser foot, bobbin and feed dogs. Wind and insert the bobbin, thread the top with the presser foot up, bring up the bobbin thread, and sew a test line on a scrap of the same fabric before touching the garment.
